MEDITATION: The great things about Meditation is that you can do it alone without any help. Although, it is good to be trained to know that you are doing it efficiently and effectively.
Thousands of studies over the last 70 years have been done on those people who Meditate; Tibetan Lamas, Rishis and others who meditate regularly have profound differences in brain waves, stress levels, abilities to concentrate and they have shown increases in IQ over the course of their lives.
Meditation profoundly reduces stress within the cells of your body freeing the mind to see things in the world more clearly. Your brain waves become more cohesive. There is a synchronization of the two hemispheres of the brain, allowing you to develop your full potential as a human being. Meditation improves all physical systems within your body, as well as cognitive functions. It is used by athletes and other people who recognize the importance of staying focused and alert in one’s life.
These physical and cognitive changes impact the rest of the body, calming nerves, reducing blood pressure and allowing the mind, body and soul connection to be enhanced. Consequently, you operate from a clearer more relaxed state, which enhances physical, emotional and mental performance.
While for those who are just beginning, we recommend Transcendental Meditation because it is easy, simple and operates as a systematic technique, which is accessible for everyone. You can do TM anywhere, no matter what your religious affiliation.
Within Tibetan Buddhism there are some incredible meditation techniques, which you will need to learn directly from a Tibetan Buddhist Lama. Of course, I would recommend Venerable Gyaltrul Rinpoche’s Monestary to find a credible Lama who is doing those kinds of teachings. You can contact the website I placed above if you are interested in Tibetan Buddhist teachings and their meditations. Also, there are many qualified Lamas who do teachings throughout the world where you may find knowledge.
There are other techniques you can begin with and may find more in line with how you live. So we present some of those here!

CHI CONG: Chi Gong is a physical meditation combining breath, concentration, and gentle movement, not unlike Tai Chi. Many years ago I had the great honor of studying with His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, Head of the Nyingmapa Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and Venerable Gyaltrul Rinpoche who was sent to America many years ago by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Gyaltrul Rinpoche has created an amazing Monastery in Southern Oregon where he oversees the teachings of several Tibetan Buddhist Arts and Practices, Tashi Choling Center for Buddhist Studies www.tashicholing.org/
Gyaltrul Rinpoche has created an incredible world from nothing, as he fled from Tibet on horseback, becoming a refugee in Northern India. But his love for his people and his culture has made him as special here in America as he was in Tibet. You cannot spend time with these precious people and not love them. I hold all of them and my experiences with them in my heart, mind and soul forever.
Tibetan Buddhist Teachings are profoundly advanced both intellectually and spiritually. They have literally mapped the mind and understand how the ego operates in the world. I believe that their understanding of how the mind works is so advanced that it literally wipes away any understanding of Human Behavior that our Western Cultures have created. These Teachings contain such knowledge that can help mankind deal with the ways we see the world, and that understanding can make the world better.
Many perceive Buddhism as a Religion and while it does meet that criteria, it is also a Philosophy of Life, which holds many invaluable truths that others can use to help them become more aware and conscious of all life. Buddhism is a Non-Theist Philosophy that does not believe in God perse or at least not the way other Religions do. It believes that everything stems from our own minds, our perception determines our experience, which is what Physicists now say that Science verifies. That is, the atoms in the Universe only come together when they are observed by consciousness. In my perception of this life experience, understanding your own mind, heart and body is the portal into comprehending all life, our Universe and Infinity. As Maharishi always said, “The microcosm is a reflection of the macrocosm.” We Human Beings are the Microcosm. While we tend to project out into the world our perceptions, through our own mind view, an understanding of how the mind works is valuable knowledge.
It has to be said that in order for us to change our circumstances we must start with ourselves and our own minds, before we can truly understand others. Maybe we can all change the world one person at a time?
